Sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) is a crystalline odourless white powder. Chemical formula – NaHCO3.
APPLICATIONS
Sodium bicarbonate has a wide range of applications. Sodium bicarbonate is mainly used in food, chemical, medical, pharmaceutical, and light industry.
In food industry, soda bicarbonate is used in bakery, confectionery, beverage making.
In chemical industry - for the dyes manufacturing, foam plastic and other organic products, fluorinated chemicals, household chemicals, fillers for fire extinguishers.
In light industry – for the production of plantar rubber and artificial leather, in leather industry (tanning hides and hides neutralization), in textile industry (finishing of silk and cotton fabrics).
In the medical and pharmaceutical industry - the production of medicines, biologically active additives (BAA), with hemodialysis.
About 50% of sodium bicarbonate is in household consumption: as baking powder to bake and in the manufacture of confectionery, like detergent, and for medical purposes (expectorant, heartburn remedy).
